Rain Boots

Mint Main - 5 months ago - Kathryn Lovell

“A lot of people like snow.  I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water.”
Carl Reiner, b. 1922

I’m starting to crave the times when ‘dark and stormy’ is a festive drink and not the weather report. Save your leather shoes (and yourself) a lot of heartache with a pair of rain boots. With rain boots, two terms come to mind- wellies and galoshes. Traditionally, wellies (a.k.a. gumboots in some parts of the world) were worn as ‘true’ shoe, while galoshes were an overshoe- you’d wear them over your fancy shoes and then take them off when you got to where ever you were going. Today the terms are more or less synonymous and with all the options available, there’s a perfect pair waiting for you.

The Original, Redone
Hunter Silver Rain Boots

Hunter is one of those staid brands that’s been around forever and is synonymous with British aristocracy and Derby winning horse farms. So this futuristic, sci-fi version of their classic boot is all kinds of awesome.

Modern Classic

Superhero
Aquatalia by Marvin K Rain Boot

I love how “a little rain won’t stop Wonder Woman from saving the world” these are! And, being on the less tall side of life, I’m grateful for anything with a heel. I wonder if they’re shipped to you in an invisible jet…

Surley Shearling

Mint Main - 6 months ago - Kathryn Lovell

“There is no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.”
John Ruskin, 1819 – 1900

Baby it’s cold outside! And, depending on where you live, potentially raining snowing or sleeting as well! If you can’t wait out the weather by a crackling fire, try channeling a little après ski style with shearling.

Scarf
Ugg Shearling Scarf

A pull through scarf is easy to use in gloves or mittens and keeps your neck warm.

Coat
Jolly Jumbuck Shearling CoatWrap yourself in warmth with a shearling coat. The tie waist nips the sihlouette so that you look svelte and the hood saves your hair from wet weather.

Boots
Cole Haan Shearling Boot

Toasty toes and dry legs are total luxury on stormy days. Such simple pleasures can also be simply stylish in a wedge heeled, rubber soled shearling boot.
