Tee Time

“To do a dull thing with style- now THAT’s what I call art!”
Charles Bukowski, 1920 – 1994

Sometimes I think we would be topless without T-shirts. How often do you reach for one throughout the week? The basic crew neck style is a wardrobe staple. When you replace worn out tees, think about sprucing up your stack with some simple details.

Neckline

Talbots Lace Trim T-Shirt

Lace trim along the neckline dresses this T up. Wear it alone, or consider it a warmer camisole and layer it under jackets and cardigans when the weather cools off.

Shoulders

Theory double-layered sleeve T-shirtDouble layer sleeves are a pleasant surprise when you remove your jacket. This is dressy enough for the office, but equally suited for jeans and sandals.

Hemline
Urban Outfitters Metallic T-shirt

The Sid-and-Nancy-ness of metallic washes ups the oomph of anything. Depending on your accessories, this is either a night out or a low key brunch.

Brilliantly Basic

Mint Main - 1 year ago - Kathryn Lovell

“Just let the wardrobe do the acting.”
Jack Nicholson, b. 1937

Somewhere along the way, “basic” became euphemism for “boring.” And what could be more basic than a button down shirt? Instead of relegating this staple to Dullsville, liven things up by choosing one with a bit of oomph. After all, your basics can be brilliantly stylish.

With a Twist

Fan Sleeved Button Down

The possibilities are endless and the versatility is infinite if you opt for classic styling with a single twist. Look for sleeve details, tuxedo plackets, double collars and so on.

Redesigned

Long, asymmetrical shirt Voluminous tops are best paired with slim bottoms like leggings, skinny jeans or cigarette pants.

Refabricated
Lace Button Down

Traditional styling in a nontraditional fabric gives you a whole new set of options to choose from. Keep the rest of your outfit simple if the fabric, like lace, reads as an all over pattern.

Take Cover

“I’ve put butter on my legs. Summer in Ohio gets very hot. We were all out of sun tan lotion.”
Carmen Electra, b. 1972

As the temperatures rise, beaches, lakes and pools draw us near. I’m all for fun in the sun until I’m over the sun. Or need to pop inside for something and don’t feel like walking through the lobby/restaurant/resort in my bikini. Behold the swimsuit cover up. Chosen wisely, it could be the only thing besides your swimsuit you need to pack.

Shirt Dress

Sarong

Animal Print Sarong There is no wrong way and a gazillion right ways to wear a sarong. Pick a pattern or color you love and wear it as a scarf post swim season.
