Coat Check

Mint Main - 1 year ago - Kathryn Lovell

“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.”
Inscription on the James Farley Post Office

Remember in the 90s when Marc Jacobs paraded models down the runway in coats made out of electric blankets that actually plugged in? While far from svelte, the recent Siberian weather has me saluting the sentiment. Before you start thinking you have to trade your panache for a poncho, relax. You can still be stylishly ’singing in the rain’ when the octave is arctic.

Tech-chic

North Face Grace Trench Coat Mata Hari just met James Bond. Hi-tech fabrics protect you from the weather without sacrificing your feminine charms.

Comfort

Bogner Fire & Ice Down Coat

Too cold to get out bed? Down coats (aka puffies) offer the warmth of a down comforter in a more shapely and mobile package.

Luxe

Burberry Cashmere Coat Fur coats are accompanied by luxurious, yet cautionary tales. Cashmere gives you the warm richness without the same level of worry.

Sure Footed

Mint Main - 1 year ago - Kathryn Lovell

“A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.”
Lao Tzu, 600 – 531 BC

You’re making your packing list and checking it twice. For many of us, the holiday season means traveling to see family and friends. Depending on where you live and where you’re going, that might mean a significant change in weather. Here’s how to put your best foot forward, regardless of your holiday destination.

Sun

Red Patent Leather Peep Toes Winter in warm climates is noted by a shoe change. The sandals are put away and the peep toes come out to play. Pick a vivid hue you can wear in spring.

Rain

Wedge Heel Galoshes

Sometimes children know best- galoshes really are the perfect solution for rain since they keep your feet and pants dry. A wedge heel makes them grown up.

Snow

Leather Mid-calf Boot If you have the pleasure/misfortune of a white Christmas, you’ll need something with a solid heel and serious traction. Rubber soles will keep you upright on slippy sidewalks and a zip entry is airport friendly.
