Tie One On

With the economy sinking lower than waistbands in the juniors department, it’s time to get creative and revisit pieces you already own. Scarves are the item that turn up in every closet I delve into and are also the least worn. They seem so fashionable- the epitome of Parisian style. But, like Parisian style, a little intimidating too. Fear no more, here’s a quick primer on the fine art of tying scarves. Go ahead and tie one on tomorrow.

Think Audrey Hepburn and pair this with a basic T-shirt or button down for causal style.

1. Drape a scarf around your neck.

2. Cross the right over left and bring it under, up, then over the top.

3. Cross left over right, and bring it under, up and over the top.

Think Elizabeth Taylor and pair with boots and a slim sweater for Aspen chic.

1. Fold a long scarf in half, length wise.

2. Drape the scarf across your neck.

3. Tuck the ends through the loop.

Think Grace Kelly and pair with dark glasses for instant intrigue.

1. Drape a scarf across your head.

2. Cross ends under your chin.

3. Tie in back or on the side.
