But sometimes, those of us who live here forget why the 16 million tourists who visit our city this year will fantasize about moving here. Rediscover the magic of living here with summer clothes you can wear to the office and site see in after work. These skirts will let you explore the City without looking like a tourist.

Walking Tour  Sip tea at the Palace or coffee at your desk in a linen skirt. Heels and a simple blouse leave you perfectly presented at meetings. A casual jacket and sandals take you to the top of Coit Tower on the weekend.

Day Tripper  Listen to your ipod on Muni or a free concert in Stern Grove in a boldly printed skirt. Add a bright top to use your computer with style. Wear it with flats to marvel at the old fashioned machines at the Musee Mechanique at Pier 43.

Night Out  Sashay to the copier or across the dance floor at the Starlight Room in a silk skirt with a tonal print. Play demure with kitten heels and a sweater set at the office, kick up your heels with dancing shoes and a martini at the Top of the Mark at night. | In an ideal world, Adam Smith would have been a fashion designer instead of an economist and the ‘invisible hand’ would be a line of imperceivable lingerie that kept your assets secure. Instead, we have bra straps that migrate and VPL (visible panty lines) at every turn. Luckily, there are new fabrics and styles that stay hidden until you decide to show them.

Shouldering On  Racer back bras have straps that stay put and out of sight when worn with sleeveless tops. Look for one in a smooth fabric to prevent lines under your clothes.

Bare Back  Originally called a ‘merry widow,’ these torsolettes are now known as ‘long line’ bras. Unlike traditional strapless bras, these stay in place, can be worn with backless tops and often come with removable straps.

Bottomless  Of all the ‘no line’ dainties on the market, the ones by Jockey are my favorite. With a full range of styles, from briefs to string bikinis, they’re comfortable, affordable and invisible under skirts and pants. |
